Bootleg Rascal are a Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based band comprising of Carlos Lara, Jimmy Young and Fraser Perrott.
Taking cues from the likes of staple influences Gorillaz, Kid Cudi and Massive Attack, the group combine an eclectic mix of hip hop, reggae, indie-rock, dub and electronica; while simultaneously delivering on an intrinsically unique sound.
Since their late-2012 inception, Bootleg Rascal have released a slew of singles, two EP’s and three albums, all of which were warmly received globally by critics and fans alike. Multiple tracks and videos have been supported by Spotify, Apple Music, MTV, Rage, NME, The Line of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, Rolling Stone Magazine, and added to high rotation on Australia’s largest youth radio network triple j; as well as performing on the station’s esteemed ‘Like a Version’ segment.
Bootleg Rascal have continually traversed the globe playing multiple sold-out headline shows in France, UK, Netherlands, Germany, USA, New Zealand and Australia. They’ve also regularly appeared on major Australian festivals including Falls Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, The Plot, Lime Cordiale’s The Squeeze Festival, Day on the Lawn, Blues on Broadbeach, The Big Pineapple Festival, Lost Paradise, The Hills are Alive, Festival of the Sun and Party in the Paddock.
In more recent years, the group moved just shy of 6000 tickets for their Australian and New Zealand national headline tours, traversed the East Coast with Coterie, South Summit, Steel Pulse (UK), and completed a 14-date headline East Coast Regional Tour. They also just
completed their self-curated national touring festival ‘BOOTY BLOCK PARTY’, where they performed in all eight capital cities, alongside the likes of Danté Knows, Dear Sunday, Dizzy Days and many more.
Over the coming months, the band will head back to New Zealand for a four-show run, which includes Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. They’ll also return to the UK and Europe for a ten-date run in June and July.
Their next single ‘Steppin’ is out May 14.
