Brothers Dana and Alden McWayne are known for creating jazzy melodies with indie sounds inspired by their unconventional upbringing in Eugene, Oregon. The band’s debut album Quiet Music for Young People was released in August of 2023 on the heels of a viral moment surrounding their single “Let’s Go to Trader Joe’s.” Later in November, “Dragon Fly” soundtracked almost 300,000 TikTok creations, spurring the band to hit the studio quicker than expected.
Within the next year they had already recruited fan of the band Jared Solomon (SZA, Remi Wolf, Teezo Touchdown) to produce their sophomore LP Coyote, You’re My Star. Recorded in Solomon’s Los Angeles studio, the album also saw long-time live-band members Eli Torgerson (guitar), Salim Charvet (alto saxophone) and Andrew Mitchell (bass) join the recording and writing process, solidifying the act as a quintet. The new record solidified the band as one of the strongest young acts in jazz, landing them playlist covers such as Spotify’s State of Jazz, and garnering support from The Zane Lowe show on Apple Music. Following the LP release, the band completed their first headlining tour across North America and Europe, and will be back on the road in 2025.
